Culture and Art Programme

Culture and Art Programme gives support to projects in all fields of culture and art. The programme supports both artists and cultural operators from the professional and amateur sectors. When assessing applications from the amateur culture and volunteer sector, priority is given to projects that are carried out in cooperation with professionals.
The most important assessment criteria are quality and innovative character of the project.

The programme is divided into two modules.

Production-based activities

The module is meant for projects that centre on culture and art productions and creative work. The key word is innovation, which means the development and testing of new ideas, concepts and processes.

Capacity development

The module is meant for projects that centre on sharing of knowledge and capacity development among artists and cultural operators. These can involve, for example, seminars, courses and workshops.

The framework budget for the Culture and Art Programme for 2012 is 2 072 752 EUR (DKK 15 442 000).

Objective of the Culture and Art Programme is to:

  • renew and revitalise Nordic culture co-operation and art in the Nordic region, relating it to the theme "The Nordic Region in the world - the world in the Nordic Region"
  • stimulate new impulses and initiatives from the cultural field; local, national, regional and international operators, organisations and institutions
  • contribute to establishing Nordic culture co-operation and art as an important element among cultural operators in the Nordic countries, the Faroe Islands, Greeland and Åland and making this co-operation visible in a global context

The Advisor for the programme is Annu Kevarinmäki.
