3. Assessment of applications

The applications are processed by experts representing all fields of art and culture and the whole region. This part of the process takes about eight weeks.

The experts review the applications and choose the projects that best meet with the assessment criteria of the programmes. There is much competition, so you should write as clear a project description as possible.

The experts make the funding decisions through the electronic communication system and in joint meetings. The most important criterion is artistic quality. There are no quotas for countries or forms of art.

The experts have been appointed by the Nordic Council of Minister on the basis of the proposals made by the Nordic countries, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland, in case of the Mobility Programme, the Baltic countries.
