23 artists’ residences in eight countries have been granted support from The Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture.
The grants allow the residences to receive visiting artists from the Nordic and Baltic region.
The residencies are granted funding for covering the costs of receiving 2-4 professional artists per year. The funding covers the travel expenses and board and lodging for approximately two months for each of the artists.
The total amount granted for the 23 residences was 293 000 euro.
The support is for a period of two years. The funding is given to the residences, which then choose the visiting artists according to their own criteria.
The residences have been selected according to criteria set for the programme. The residency, for example, needs to work with professional artists and cultural operators on a regular basis and have an objective to support innovative artistic work. The residency also needs to have a capacity to work with several artists at the same time and be engaged in cooperation with the local art scene.
This was the only application round for support to artist’s residencies during the years 2010–2011.
