Beautiful things

Some days ago my fellow poetry rider Guntars came to visit me and brought the brand new Poetry Ride posters and flyers with him. They are so beautiful! Posters, flyers and other visual Poetry Ride stuff are designed by Designhouse. Greetings to Jorens, keep up the good work!

It is always nice to meet with Guntars, even though meeting him reminds of how much is still undone. It seems we are finding new, very important and urgent tasks every time we speak. One of the surpisingly time-consuming things is making the travel arrangements. Moving people from, to and in four different countries on a tight schedule and on a budget of a cultural event (no private jets or even a yacht) can sometimes be a bit challenging. Of course it is so worth it, but wouldn't it be nice to have an assistant to do all the bookings and other stuff like that. If you have a poetry tour- shaped empty space in your life, you can become my volunteer assistant! Just a suggestion...

One thing that I am really happy about is that we are having a photographer with us this year. You can see her previous works here. This is the first time we have such a luxury as a professional photographer travelling with us. Maybe there will finally be a nice photo of me after all these years...? Well, I have found something really pretty to photograph. A kleinbus! We wanted to have pictures of the poets with a kleinbus, and finding it wasn’t exactly easy. Fortunately, there is an association for everything in Finland, also for proud Volkswagen owners. Through them I found a really beautiful bus, pictures to follow!

As fun it is to write this blog, now I should go to explore the world of boat timetables and other such things. And to dream of having an assistant (and a Poetry Yacht, that would sail from one glorious sunset to another... )

Jenni

My name is Jenni Kallionsivu and I’m a devoted Poetry Rider! Which means that I make a festival called Poetry Ride happen together with my Latvian colleague, poet and translator Guntars Godinš and several other fantastic people. I work in the Finnish Institute in Estonia helping people to network and organising all kinds of interesting events.  Living a multilingual life as a Finn living in Estonia and blogging in English keeps my brain healthy and fit. So a multilingual poetry festival is a great way to celebrate the beauty of languages and honor the art of translating, and that is what this blog is about. You can write to me at jenni.kallionsivu@finst.ee.

The Poetry Ride project has received funding through the module Production-based activities.
